NORTHBROOK, IL – Northbrook-based Pine Tree Commercial Realty recently announced the appointment of Christopher Block and Jonathan Spitz to its retail property management team, according to Pine Tree Senior VP of Property Management Phil Spitz.

CHRISTOPHER BLOCK, 43, of Chicago, was named property manager for four shopping centers totaling 641,000 square feet. His responsibilities include managing property operations and preparing expense reconciliations, property budgets and financial management reports. He also handles property lease compliance, including tenant relations and collections. Prior to joining Pine Tree,
Mr. Block spent the past 12 years managing construction and development of residential and commercial projects in Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho, with Calian Development LLC. As a developer, Mr. Block completed the Old Town Mercantile Building, a successful mixed-use commercial condominium project located in Hailey, Idaho. Prior to Idaho, he spent eight years in Portland, Ore., focused on retail, where he served as assistant to the CFO for the local natural foods grocery chain Nature’s Fresh Northwest. Mr. Block is a graduate of Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in history.

JONATHAN SPITZ, 25, of Chicago, has been hired by Pine Tree as property manager for five shopping centers totaling 625,000 square feet. His responsibilities include managing property operations and preparing expense reconciliations, property budgets and financial management reports. He also handles property lease compliance including tenant relations and collections. Prior to joining Pine Tree, Jonathan Spitz served as commercial and financial manager for Water Tower Realty in Chicago, where his management portfolio included 300,000 square feet of office/retail and several large residential apartment buildings. Mr. Spitz received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Iowa, with an emphasis in accounting, finance, and entrepreneurial management.
